I was delighted to participate in the B.C. Nurse Practitioners’ 7th Annual Conference in Richmond. I’d like to thank the organizers, and especially Sue Peck, Esther Sangster-Gormley, Rosemary Graham and Lorine Scott for welcoming me so warmly. Everyone at the College appreciates the on-going, collaborative work we are doing with nurse practitioners and with the B.C. Nurse Practitioner Association (BCNPA) Huge kudos to the BCNPA for the work they’ve accomplished with the Ministry of Health to create the new Nurse Practitioner for B.C. (NP4BC) initiative. Over the next three years this $22 million fund is expected to significantly increase nurse practitioner employment in B.C. This announcement is valuable confirmation of what we all know: increased employment of nurse practitioners contributes to the health and health outcomes of the people of British Columbia, especially those who are members of our most vulnerable populations.
